Responding to the call of the American Federation of Labor, tens of thousands of workers across the city of Chicago conducted strikes, held rallies and protested on the streets with the slogan "8-hour working day". This is the inevitable result of the long process of struggle from the second half of the nineteenth century of workers in many countries around the world when they were heavily exploited. On the occasion of International Labor Day 2021, the President of the International Transport Federation (ITF), Mr. Paddy Crumlin issued the message: “International Labor Day is a Day of courage and determination… A day to celebrate, but also a day of regret when so many people have lost their lives.”
