The project is inspired by disaster movies and life with many natural disasters at Tornado Alley. "The city" is a series of models about a ruined city after people disappeared. Growing up at Tornado Alley, from a young age Nix's life "always faced dangers and natural disasters such as blizzards, floods, tornadoes, insect intrusions". This is one of the inspirations that helped her make this project Yellowstone You’re The Trailer Park I’m the Tornado shirt. A laundromat in ruins due to an environmental disaster. The two female artists said that each model takes about 7-15 months to complete. Getting the right photos to save also takes about 3 weeks.
